M-66 resurfacing from Ionia to M-57 begins Sept. 9

STARTING DATE: Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Friday, Oct. 16, 2009

PROJECT: Starting this Wednesday, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin resurfacing M-66 in Montcalm and Ionia counties. Work will extend from North Street in the city of Ionia to M-57 just south of Sheridan. M-57 also will be resurfaced 650 feet east and 650 feet west of M-66 totaling 13 miles of new, smooth asphalt.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: The work at the M-66/M-57 intersection will be performed at night to minimize the impact on motorists. During this five- week project, traffic will be maintained with lane closures utilizing flag control; no detour will be necessary.

CUSTOMER BENEFIT: This $1.8 million project will improve the roadway surface and increase the ride quality, while extending the service life.
