Senate Bills

Senate Bill 1502   - "Dead Beat Parent Bill"

A Senate bill to amend 1996 IL 1, entitled "Michigan gaming control and revenue act,"  by amending section 3 (MCL 432.203), as amended by 1997 PA 69, and  by adding section 9e.  The purpose of the bill is provide that all persons winning $1000 dollars or more would be check by a casino licensee against state Friend of the Court records to determine if the wagerer has any child support arrearages.  If there is a support arrearage the casino would forward the amount owed to the appropriate judicial circuit court for application to the existing balance.  And any excess would be paid to the wagerer.

Senate Bill 1513  - "Free drinks to gaming patrons bill"

A Senate bill to amend 1998 PA 58, entitled "Michigan liquor control code of 1998," by amending section 1025 (MCL 436.2025), as amended by 2008 PA 11.  The purpose of the bill is provide that all Class B Hotel Licensees or a Class C Licensee operating in a casino under the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, 1996, IL1, MCL 432.201 to 432.226 may give away alcoholic liquor to patrons in connection with a business event or as part of a room special or promotion for overnight accommodations.


House Bills

HB 6195 of 2008 - "Tribal Casino games expansion"

A House Bill that amends title & sections; 2, 7, 15 & 18 of 1995 PA 279 (MCL 431.302 et seq.). The bill is tie barred with HB 6196 of 2008.  The purpose of this bill allows horse racing; simulcast wagering on horse races conducted in this state; allow in casinos and require future negotiations of gaming compacts with Indian tribes to include simulcasting and wagering.

HB 6196 of 2008 - "Tribal Casino allowed to games expansion"

A House Bill Gaming that amends sections; 3 & 9b of 1996 IL 1 (MCL 432.203 & 432.209b). The bill is tie barred with HB-6195 of 2008. The purpose of this bill requires casinos to simulcast and accept wagers on horse racing in this state.

House Joint Resolution MMM   - "Racino Legislation"

A House Joint Resolution to amend Section 41, Article IV & adds Section 42 to Article IX of the Michigan State Constitution. The purpose of this legislation is to add up to seven (7) casino gaming facilities at horse racetracks in Michigan. This legislation is tiebarred to HB-6465.

HB-6465  - "Racino Bill"

A House Bill to amend title & Sections: 2, 3, 7, 8, 17, 18, 19a & 22 of 1995 PA 279 (MCL 431.302 et seq.) & repeals Section 19 of 1995 PA 279 (MCL 431.319). Tiebarred to: HJR MMM'08. The purpose of this legislation to allow wagering on games other than horse races at horse racetracks.

HB 6059 of 2008

A House Bill to amend 1997 PA 70, entitled "Compulsive gaming prevention act," by amending section 3 (MCL 432.253). The purpose of the bill is to redistribution of funds in the compulsive gaming prevention act.

HB 5212 of 2007  

A House bill to amend the Initiated Law of 1996, entitled "Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act," by amending sections 2 and 8b (MCL 432.202 and 432.208b), section 2 as amended and section 8b as added by 1997 PA 69.  The purpose of the bill is to modify language in the "Act" concerning qualification of individuals that are seeking casino jobs requiring a license and undergo background check to work in a casino.
