| North West Ottawa County Elder-Friendly Community Task Force |

The Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging approved recognition to the North West Ottawa County Elder-Friendly Community Task Force for piloting the Michigan Community for a Lifetime Assessment and completing an Elder-Friendly Community Assessment for the City of Grand Haven, Grand Haven Township, Spring Lake Village, Spring Lake Township, and Ferrysberg. Some of the strengths the Community for a Lifetime review panel noted included the following:

Identification of specific street locations where traffic travels too fast, to address walkability.
- Strong detailed evidence of awareness and utilization of universal design principles, including 36" wide entry door for new construction.
- Establishment of a 211 Information system.
- A public transportation system that covers five regions with a wide range of available hours.
- Educational courses offered to seniors at no cost.
