The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today designated HandsOn Battle Creek, Inc. (formerly known as the Volunteer Center of Battle Creek, Inc.) as the 2-1-1 answering point for four exchanges in Branch County.  It currently provides 2-1-1 coverage for Calhoun County and for rate centers in St. Joseph County, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

The abbreviated dialing number 2-1-1 has been assigned by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to enable callers to reach community resource and referral answering points.

The four exchanges are:  Bronson, Coldwater, Coldwater Lake and Quincy.

Today's MPSC order notes the Commission's approval is provisional, in part, due to the FCC's ability to recall the 2-1-1 number.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
