Michigan law requires that you change the address on your driver's license or personal identification (ID) card when you move. The address must match the address on your voter registration card. If you fail to change your address, your driver's license may be suspended. There is no fee to change your address. You may change your address by mail or in person at a Secretary of State branch office. Either option allows you to update your voter registration to your new address.
By Mail:
Click the link at the bottom of this page for the form to change your address. When completed, mail it to the address listed on the form. Forms cannot be accepted by e-mail.
When changing your address by mail, a letter containing the new address will be mailed to your old address to verify that you did submit the address change. If you do not want persons at the old address to have your new address, change your address in person at a Secretary of State branch office.
In Person:
If you are changing your address at a branch office, be sure to bring your driver's license or personal ID card. You will be given a sticker with your new address for the back of your driver's license or personal ID card.
