Child Support

Legislation (Michigan Vehicle Code Sections 257.320e and 257.321c) was enacted to suspend the driver license and occupational license of parents if they are  behind in payments of their child support.  The Child Support suspension is identified as an FCJ suspension.

When a driver has a Child Support suspension, an Order Rescinding License Suspension must be presented to clear the suspension at any Secretary of State branch office.  A required $85.00 clearance fee must also be paid at the Secretary of State branch office. The rescinding order must be identified as a Child Support order.  Drivers should be referred to the Friend of the Court for any questions regarding this suspension.
