• Self-Insurance
The Secretary of State certifies self-insurers in the State of Michigan. Applicants for self-insurance must have 26 or more motor vehicles registered in Michigan and meet other specific qualification criteria. All self-insurers are assessed for the operation of the Department of State Assigned Claims Facility based on number of vehicles self-insured.
