The Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act (PA 69 of 1997) provides for the licensing and control of non-tribal casino gaming operations, manufacturers and distributors of gaming devices and gaming employees. The Act also prohibits persons with casino interests from making campaign contributions to candidates and committees, such as PAC’s and political parties, that are allowed to contribute to candidates. The prohibition against casino contributions is enforced by the  Michigan Gaming Control Board.

The Casino Interest Registration Act (PA 74 of 1997) compliments the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act by requiring some - but not all - persons having an interest in a casino to register with the Department of State's Bureau of Elections. From these registrations, a searchable database has been developed that assists in identifying persons who are prohibited from making contributions.
