Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Mobile Branch Office will be in Detroit to serve East Side residents on Aug. 7.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7. The office will be at the Samaritan Center, 5555 Conner St, which is the former Mercy Hospital complex.

"The Mobile Branch Office offers visitors a convenient option to conduct their Department of State business," Land said. "I encourage area residents to take advantage of this opportunity."

The Samaritan Center offers East Side residents medical care, job-training and educational programs, and other services to people of all ages.

The mobile facility is a full-service Secretary of State branch office and is accessible to people with disabilities. It is hauled statewide on a 24-foot trailer that has logged more than 125,000 miles since it first hit the road 10 years ago.

Land encourages all customers who have Internet access to check out the department's online services at www.Michigan.gov/sos before visiting any branch office. For example, license tabs and watercraft registrations can be renewed online. Browsing the site will help customers determine requirements before they go to an office.
