MAY 16, 2008

Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land recently honored Eaton Rapids motorcyclist Eric Larson for his years of work promoting motorcycle safety in Michigan.

Larson accepted a mounted commemorative motorcycle license plate stamped 4SAFT from Land during her annual motorcycle safety news conference held on the Capitol Mall Plaza. The event was attended by dozens of riders from throughout the state. May is motorcycle safety awareness month.

Land cited Larson as a strong safety advocate who has helped her office promote motorcycle safety, written dozens of letters about proper motorcycling to Michigan media organizations, and started his own Web site dedicated to ensuing riders know how to avoid dangerous situations.

"Eric has been a great resource as we've promoted motorcycle safety to the people of Michigan," Land said. "His tireless efforts have helped make Michigan roads safer for motorcyclists and car drivers alike."

Larson's Web site is www.Michigan-Motorcycle-Awareness.org. He was the first state director of the Gold Wing Touring Association and still is a member of the group. Larson works for the Michigan Department of Information Technology.
