Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Mobile Branch Office will be at the Michigan State Fair in Detroit from August 19 – September 1 to serve area customers.

The facility provides all services found at any Secretary of State branch office and is handicapper accessible. It is hauled statewide on a 24-foot trailer.

The Mobile Branch Office will be open:

  • August 19 through August 21 from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m.;
  • August 22 through August 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.;
  • August 25 through August 28 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and
  • August 29, 30, 31 and September 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"Making the Department of State more convenient and accessible is the foundation of my agenda," Land said. "The Mobile Branch Office is an excellent tool that lets us reach out to all corners of Michigan."

Following its visit to Detroit, the Mobile Branch Office will travel to Wixom, Brooklyn, Battle Creek, and Northville. It has logged nearly 100,000 miles since it first hit the road nearly six years ago.

Land encourages all customers who have Internet access to check the department Web site at www.Michigan.gov/sos before visiting any branch office. For example, license plates and watercraft registrations can be renewed online. Browsing the site also helps customers determine fees and requirements before they go to an office.
