Detroit-area Secretary of State branch offices to support Angels' Night Volunteer Campaign

Contact:  Kelly Chesney (517) 373-2520
Agency: Secretary of State

City of Detroit

October 2, 2003

Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that branch offices in Detroit, Harper Woods, Hamtramck and Highland Park will partner with the city of Detroit to promote the need for volunteers for Angels’ Night on Oct. 29-31.

The branch offices will display Angels’ Night posters and provide information for residents interested in learning more about or volunteering for the campaign.  The Angels’ Night Volunteer Campaign seeks residents who will turn on their porch lights, patrol neighborhoods, monitor local abandoned homes and buildings, and provide other support to keep Detroit safe during the three-day Halloween period.

“As proud members of the greater Detroit business community, Secretary of State branch offices are pleased to participate in the Angels’ Night Volunteer Campaign,” Land said.  “By working together, we can ensure that this world-class city is treated with the dignity and respect it deserves.  I commend the city for its proactive stance in protecting the health and welfare of its citizens.”
