Agency: Secretary of State

JANUARY 28, 2004

Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Mobile Branch Office will be at the 46th Annual Detroit Boat Show on Feb. 7 - 15 to serve area customers.

The facility provides all services found at any Secretary of State branch office and is handicapper accessible. It is hauled statewide on a 24-foot trailer.

It will be at COBO Center in Detroit. Hours are:

Feb. 7 - 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Feb. 8 - 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Feb. 9 - 3 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Feb. 10 - 3 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Feb. 11 - 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Feb. 12 - 3 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Feb. 13 - 3 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Feb. 14 - 12 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Feb. 15 - 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.

"Making the Department of State more convenient and accessible is the foundation of my agenda," Land said. "The Mobile Branch Office is an excellent tool that lets us reach out to all corners of Michigan."

In March, the Mobile Branch Office travels to Riverview, Kalamazoo and Traverse City. It has logged more than 100,000 miles since it first hit the road nearly seven years ago.

Land encourages all customers who have Internet access to check out the department’s online services at www.Michigan.gov/sos before visiting any branch office. For example, vehicle license plates and watercraft registrations can be renewed online. Browsing the site also helps customers determine fees and requirements before they go to an office.
