Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced
that the Mobile Branch Office will visit Benton Harbor on July 19 to serve the
needs of young residents in cooperation with the Council for World-Class
Communities (CWCC).
It will be at Lake Michigan College, 2775 E. Napier
Ave. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. While the mobile office is working with the CWCC to help
young people obtain driver’s licenses or personal identification cards and
conduct other transactions, it is open to all customers.
“The department is pleased to work with local
organizations and we encourage everyone to take advantage of this
opportunity,” Land said. “The
Mobile Branch Office is a great tool that lets us better reach all corners of
Michigan.”
The Mobile Branch Office provides all services
found at any Secretary of State branch office.
The facility is handicapper accessible and is hauled statewide on a
24-foot trailer.
Following the Benton Harbor visit, the mobile
office travels to Richland Township and Wixom.
It has logged more than 100,000 miles since it first hit the road nearly
seven years ago.
Land
encourages all customers who have Internet access to check out the
department’s online services at www.Michigan.gov/sos
before visiting any branch office. For
example, license plates and watercraft registrations can be renewed online.
Browsing the site also helps customers determine fees and requirements
before they go to an office.
