Say yes to join the Organ Donor Registry

You can give no greater gift than the gift of life. By joining the Michigan Organ Donor Registry, you can help give that gift. Just one organ and tissue donor can save the lives of eight people and enhance the lives of more than 50.

Please consider signing up today. If you join when you renew or when you get your firstLicenses with organ donation heart driver's license or state ID card, you'll have a heart logo printed on your new license or ID card. If you join before your license expires, you'll receive a heart logo sticker that should be placed on your license or ID card. When your license or ID card expires, you'll be sent a new one with the heart logo printed on it after you renew it.

If you lose your heart logo sticker, you can easily order a new one.

What is the Michigan Organ Donor Registry?

It is a database of residents who wish to be organ and tissue donors that is maintained by the Department of State. The registry is confidential and can only be accessed by Gift of Life Michigan to assist hospitals in the recovery and transplantation of organs and tissue.

Besides signing up online, you can add your name to the Organ Donor Registry when you:

  • Renew or replace your standard driver's license or state ID card online at ExpressSOS.com.
  • Visit a Secretary of State office and simply let the clerk know you want your name added to the Michigan Organ Donor Registry.
  • Renew your state ID card by mail by checking the organ donor box and your name will be placed on the donor registry.
