E5. My software doesn't support MBT e-file. What should I do?

We encourage you to use software that supports the MBT e-file program. E-file provides the best possible level of service. MBT paper returns will take longer to process. Also, account resolution for MBT e-file returns is given priority over paper returns.

The e-file mandate for SBT is being continued for software developers supporting MBT, effective January 1, 2010, for the 2009 tax year. Software developers producing MBT preparation software will need to support e-file for all eligible MBT forms that are included in their tax preparation software. Therefore, if you prepare MBT returns using a computer software program you must e-file all eligible tax year 2009 returns that are supported by your software.
