The Michigan State Hospital Finance Authority staff assists healthcare institutions finance healthcare facilities and equipment through:
- Providing front-end analysis and advice when borrowers are deciding among financing alternatives and credit enhancements.
- Having high quality experienced professional staff members.
- Confirming bond-pricing levels are appropriate.
- Expediting the financing process.
- Verifying that costs of issuance are appropriate.
- Having the ability to issue one series of bonds for multiple locations throughout the state of Michigan.
- Offering assistance in the determination of eligibility of borrower and the project for tax-exempt financing.
- Working with underwriter and financial advisor in creating new financing products that benefit our clients.
- Advocating for the continuation and improvement of tax-exempt financing.
- Maintaining professional competence through membership in the
National Association of Health
and Educational Facilities Finance Authorities.

Healthcare Equipment Loan Program The Healthcare Equipment Loan Program (HELP) is a tax-exempt financing plan that offers Michigan health care organizations a low-cost alternative to conventional methods of borrowing for a variety of capital-related purposes.
