Chief Deputy State Treasurer Mark Haas oversees all operations within the Department of Treasury. In addition to Deputy Treasurers for Taxation, Investments, Local Government, Student Financial Services, and Bond Finance, the Bureaus of Administrative Services, Program Management, and Financial Services report directly to Mr. Haas, as does the Office of Human Resources.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Deputy, Haas served as Chief Operating Officer for the Bureau of Investments. Prior to that, he directed Treasury's Office of Revenue and Tax Analysis, served as Chief Economist and Director of Business Research for the Department of Commerce, and was Director of Energy Policy and Research and Chief Economist for the Department of Labor. Mark started his career with the State of Michigan in 1978, as staff economist for the Department of Management and Budget.
State Treasurer Robert Kleine appointed Mark Haas as Chief Deputy Treasurer in February of 2007.
